BarChip was used as the primary reinforcement in Amazon’s 41,180 m2 fulfilment centre.
Opened in 2020, Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Nova Santa Rita is one of the largest Amazon centres in Brazil, and the only one in the southern region of the country.
The centre is part of the 3SB industrial park, the largest in the State, and was constructed with an investment of around R$50 million by the park owners.
The new centre was meticulously planned and designed to meet the performance and automation needs of Amazon, with every aspect of the development reflecting Amazon’s commitment to excellence.
One such aspect was the use of BarChip MQ58 synthetic fibre concrete reinforcement, which was used as a replacement for traditional steel mesh in the concrete flooring.
BarChip MQ58 is a specialty flooring fibre and designed to deliver a fibre free surface finish without changes to regular finishing techniques. BarChip delivered numerous benefits to Amazon and the park owners.
- Reduced construction time and cost.
- Improved durability.
- Reduced risks of plastic shrinkage cracking.
- Reduced carbon footprint.
- Delivered a fibre free finish.
