The excavation for a residential building with one level of underground parking in Sofia was reinforced using the "Soldier Piles" technology. This is a proven, effective system for temporary excavation support in urban environments, which minimizes space loss and ensures rapid execution.
What Is Excavation Reinforcement with Soldier Piles?
This method involves steel profiles placed at regular intervals, with either timber lagging or sprayed concrete. The profiles can be driven dynamically (using vibratory hammers) or installed in pre-drilled holes. The system is preferred for narrow urban plots and deep excavations, as it exerts minimal impact on adjacent areas. Despite its advantages, the method is often used as a temporary solution and requires additional measures when dealing with high groundwater levels.
