Description
Under a project of the company "Nekton 2" a project for the rehabilitation of road surfaces with access control on the territory of "Port of Varna" was launched.
The site is of important national importance, as the section passes traffic from trucks weighing over 40 tons, which ensures the movement of goods to and from the sites and silos, where the loading and unloading of goods from and to waiting for ships.
Access control will be carried out through sensors that detect radiation from vehicles; induction coils for traffic detection, built into the road surface and restricting access barriers.
After the detection of traffic from the coils, the sensors for reading the radiation indicators are activated, which, depending on the received data, transmit information to the barrier for allowing access to the vehicles.
In order to avoid interference in the possible installation of a reinforcing mesh in the pavement, the design company decided to use only BarChip fibres to reinforce the area where the sensors will be located.
Subsequently, it was decided that the entire flooring would be reinforced with BarChip synthetic fibres in combination with a reinforcing mesh, for additional security in the control of cracks in the concrete.
The fibres were pre-mixed in the concrete mix in the concrete unit, and the concrete was poured by means of a concrete pump. The passage of the fibres through the concrete pump was unobstructed and there was no risk of damaging the pistons and possibly blocking the pump, which usually happens when using steel fibres.
