Winery Waterproofing: A Deep-Level Challenge in Roseto degli Abruzzi

The Challenge
A new underground barrel cellar in Voltarrosto, built 5.80m below ground level, required a high-performance waterproofing system. The goal was to protect the reinforced concrete from hydrostatic pressure and aggressive agents while ensuring a healthy environment for winemaking, compliant with strict health and safety regulations (NTC 2018).

Technological Solutions
To ensure complete protection against water and natural gases (radon and methane), an integrated Volteco system was implemented:

Foundation Protection: Amphibia 3000 Grip, a self-repairing EPDM membrane, was used under the slab.

Vertical Walls: Plastivo 180 flexible coating was applied to handle hydrostatic pressure.

Joint Management: Continuity was secured using WT Panel, WT Construction hydro-swellable waterstops, and WT Break crack inducers to manage structural movement and curing.

Roofing: The Aquascud System, combined with drainage and root-resistant layers, ensures long-term roof durability.

The Result
The project achieved maximum durability and a moisture-free environment. This targeted design highlights how advanced waterproofing technology meets the rigorous demands of the high-quality food and wine sector.
